Joel Hogarth

Managing Director

Joel is a senior financial and restructuring advisory professional with 20 years' experience in Asia. He worked as a partner at major US and English law firms, acting on over USD30 billion of Restructuring, Structured Finance, M&A and Private Equity transactions, with a strong focus on South East Asia, particularly Indonesia.

His experience includes in and out-of-court restructurings, including over 30 Indonesian Suspension of Payments proceedings, UK Schemes of Arrangement, US Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 Proceedings, Hong Kong Judicial Management Proceedings, Singapore Schemes of Arrangement and applications under the Omnibus Act.

Joel also has a strong reputation for corporate and finance transactions including private equity, special situations, mergers and acquisitions.   Joel has been recognised as a leading lawyer in restructuring, finance, M&A and other categories by major directories Chambers, IFLR and ALB.

Richard Hogarth

Commercial Director

Richard has over 30 years' experience in the retail industry, with high profile directorships including: Merchandising Director for electronics retailer Tandy Radio Shack in the UK, which was acquired by Carphone Warehouse; Merchandise Director for office products retailer, Staples Europe, Purchasing Director for contract stationers, Guilbert Niceday, which was acquired by Office Depot; and Merchandising Director for online auction site QXL Ricardo, which was acquired by multinational internet group, Naspers.

Isaac Lee

Director

Isaac is a chartered accountant in the United Kingdom and Singapore with 12 years’ of commercial and professional services across Southeast Asia. He has acted on over USD5 billion of cross-border restructuring, turnaround management and M&A transactions.

His experience includes operational and financial restructurings, implementing operational transformation and turnaround management, performance improvements, strategic review and capital structure advisory, as well as both buy-side and sell-side M&A advisory. 

Prior to being a consultant, he was an auditor with a Big-4 audit firm with significant experience in leading large scale audit engagements with a variety of publicly listed and multinational corporations within Asia.

Jisad Dian Garcennia

Associate Director

Jisad is a finance professional with 7 years’ experience in corporate finance, asset management and institutional brokerage. He is a capital markets practitioner with sell-side and buy-side experience and has a deep understanding of Indonesian securities. 


Recent experience includes advising multiple major SOE restructuring, assisting with fundraising for several well-known Indonesian property entities and financial due diligence on entities in several sectors (telecommunications, manufacturing, infrastructure, among others). 


Prior to being a consultant, he was a fund manager in an established asset management firm in Indonesia.

Kirk Evans

Head of Corporate Strategy

Kirk has over 30 years’ experience working in Indonesia. His career has encompassed a number of industries including property, renewables, industry, agriculture and forestry.


He has been CEO of one of the leading sustainable companies in SE Asia developing over 70 per cent of the total registered carbon credits in Indonesia. He also led a commodity based company and set up the metals desk.


Kirk has also worked for family offices developing property projects in North Sumatra and Jakarta. Other projects including plastic recycling, medical centres, aviation leasing, consumer finance and forestry.

Sasha Bharwani

Associate Counsel

Sasha is a New York qualified attorney with experience in general corporate and M&A matters, restructuring and insolvency matters, and developing and providing oversight on novel financial products (conventional and Sharia-compliant).


Her experience includes cross-border in-court scheme of arrangements and judicial management proceedings, representing the largest pre-IPO investment into a Nasdaq listed company, structuring Indonesian financial service products, and structuring investments and philanthropic donations into Indonesia through various entities.

Kiyoko Pradasari

Manager

Kiyoko is a lawyer with more than 4 years’ experience in various transactions, previously she assisted the largest commercial bank in Thailand on the aggregate US$902,000,000 senior-term bilateral facility to finance one of Indonesian conglomerate groups for purchasing shares of the biggest mining businesses in Indonesia. In addition to that she has similar experience in capital market and general corporate transaction both for onshore and cross-border transactions.

Prior joining Eliot and Luther, she worked at a reputable law firm and an international financial institution in Indonesia.

Howard James Sargeant

Chief Plantation Advisor

Howard is a highly motivated achiever with proven ability of over 50 years’ extensive operational experience in plantation management and development in Malaysia, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. He has been doing consultancy and advisory for the plantation industry in Asia, Africa and South America for Rubber, Oil Palm, Cocoa and Coconuts.

He started his career in 1963 with Plantation Holdings, a London based Company. He has been a member of the Consortium Group OPGP (Oil Palm Genome Project), IOPRI Ganoderma study group and collaborative member with CIFOR on GHG emission study in Indonesia. Currently developing with the ASD-Bakrie Seed Garden, North Sumatra Ganoderma tolerant varieties of hybrid oil palm seeds in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture.

He has published and presented in 2001 a report for the purpose of bilateral cooperation between Ministry of Forestry, Government of Indonesia and the European Union, European Commission on: “Vegetation fires in Sumatra Indonesia. Oil palm agriculture in the wetlands of Sumatra: destruction or development?”. In 2012, He presented a paper at the International Conference and Exhibition of Palm Oil (ICE-PO) in Jakarta on: “Sustainable Palm Oil Implementation & Benefit: BSP Experience”.

Michael Drachmann

Chief Maritime Advisor

Michael is a shipping professional with over 25 years of working experience in Asia with extensive knowledge of shipping, marine logistics, and infrastructure.  


He set up and ran the Indonesian office of one of the world's largest shipbroking groups and has been a speaker at numerous conferences on shipping and logistics in Asia and have built senior relationships within the Indonesian and International shipping community in all sectors.


He has also worked alongside P&I clubs, shipowners and international law firms on disputes encountered in Indonesia and the region providing local support and intelligence with strong relationships with the appropriate authorities.
